The mackerel icefish, Champsocephalus gunnari, is a fish found only in the Southern Ocean. They are mainly to be found near Heard and McDonald Islands, Îles Kerguelen and islands in the south Atlantic such as South Georgia.
Due to overfishing, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) considers the species "depleted".
