Range Description

This species is widespread in the Indo-Pacific. It is found from the Red Sea and East Africa to the Mariana Islands and American Samoa, including Australia and Japan.

Specific records: Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea (Socotra), Madagascar, Lakshadweep, West Thailand, Northwest Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Pohnpei (Micronesia), Papua New Guinea, Bismarck Sea - Solomon Islands, Great Barrier Reef, Fiji (DeVantier and Turak pers. comm.).

Randall and Cheng (1984) give western Indian Ocean to Samoa and Great Barrier Reef to Japan.
