Saddleback caterpillar moth

This is a wide-ranging moth of eastern North America. The caterpillar is notable for its distinctive aposematic coloration and its spines, capable of inflicting a painful sting. Caterpillar feeds on a wide range of deciduous trees, shrubs, forbs, and even grasses.
