The Great Grebe (Podiceps major) is a large South American diving waterbird of freshwater lakes and ponds. As its name suggests, they are the largest of the grebes (family Podicipedidae), with very long, thin necks, dagger-like bills, rufous necks, dark backs, and whitish underparts.
