Range Description

Rhinomyias colonus is restricted (if one excludes dubious records from East Sulawesi attributed to the race "subsolanus") to Banggai (where subspecies pelingensis occurs on Peleng) and the Sula Islands (where the nominate subspecies colonus occurs on Taliabu, Seho, Mangole and Sanana), Indonesia. As well as having a restricted range, it has probably declined owing to extensive clearance of lowland forest, and is apparently generally uncommon throughout its range.
