Grasshopper warblers are notable for their song: a long-held rattle, resembling an alarm clock or a ... grasshopper. The sound seems to get louder and softer, but that comes from the bird turning its head while singing. Grasshopper warblers have an inconspicuous plumage and are very shy, which is why we know so little about this bird.
