Range Description

Turdus poliocephalus ranges widely across the islands of the Pacific, with populations in Indonesia, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia (to France), Fiji and Samoa (del Hoyo et al. 2005). Subspecies from Norfolk Island (to Australia) (nominate poliocephalus), Australia's Lord Howe Island (vinitinctus) and New Caledonia's Mar Island (mareensis) have all gone extinct (Hindwood 1940, Garnett et al. 2011, G. Dutson in litt. 2011).
