Small to medium worm-like snake, maximum length 350 mm; tail very short, as wide as long, terminating with a small conical spine-like scale. Body cylindrical, rather thick (up to 10 mm wide), covered with smooth scales of uniform size, 21-24 transverse scale rows around the body. Eyes vestigial, visible as small dark dots below large ocular scales. Snout is rounded; rostral narrow, about one-third of head width; nasals incompletely divided; nasal cleft proceeding from second supralabial. Four supralabials. Color is light pink-gray, slightly lighter on the ventral side. Juveniles darker.
