Range Description

This species is found east of the Caspian Sea, from Kazakhstan to Khorasan and Sistan in northeastern Iran and as far east as northwestern China. There are no records of it from Afghanistan, possibly because of under-surveying within its range. This species was declared extinct in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation (2001) due to the lack of confirmation of the species existence after 1935 (border of Chechnya and Kalmykia). It occurs up to 2,000 m asl in parts of its range (Naryn Depression, Kyrgyzstan) and has a lower elevational limit of 45 m below sea level.
