Range Description

This species is endemic to Madagascar and is found in the east of the island north of the Mangoro River, as far north as Marojejy (Glaw and Vences 2007) and Daraina (Rakotondravony 2006) and east to Masoala (F. Andreone pers. comm. January 2011). Its maximum elevation is recorded as around 700 m at Vohimana (F. Glaw pers. comm. January 2011). The known sites encompass an area of 35,368 km; however, its extent of occurrence is presumed to be considerably lower as it is only found at lower elevations (C. Raxworthy pers. comm. May 2011). Low-altitude records along the east coast are from a century ago, and the persistence of the species in this now-degraded area requires confirmation.
