Range Description

The distribution of Bombus inexspectatus is confined and discrete. The species lives in the Cantabrian Mountains in Spain and on the southern side of the southern Alps. It seems to be absent from the Pyrenees, as no valid observation has yet been reported from these mountains (the specimens reported by Ornosa Gallego (1984) have all been invalidated and revised as B. ruderarius;L. Castro pers. comm. 2012). This distribution is clearly relict. The extent of occurrence (EOO) is 230,166 km and the area of occupancy (AOO) is 368 km.
