This species is endemic to an 8 km length of shoreline on a single island in the Cape Verde group. There are no plans for tourist development, and no small harbours, nor any roads to the region, so there are no current threats to this species. The off-take for the shell trade is limited, and as such is not considered a threat (M. J. Tenorio, pers. comm., 2011).
