Plant height ranges from 15 to 50 centimeters; bulbs are ten to 25 millimeters (mm)in thickness with an outer coat ranging from black to darkish brown. Leaves may be from four to ten millimeters in width. The inflorescence is raceme-like, sometimes with basal branching; pedicels are 15 to 40 mm in length. The diminutive flowers measure three to five mm in diameter, with perianth parts that are not cordate. Plants generally occur on dry slopes and flats.
