They are native to Distrito Federal, Cerrado, Rio Grande Do Sul, Alagoas, Rio De Janeiro, GoiáS, The Neotropics, Acre (Brazil), Santa Catarina, Amazônia, RondôNia, Mata Atlântica, Amapá, SãO Paulo, Caatinga, U.S. Virgin Islands, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Tocantins, Pará, ParaíBa, Paraná, Espirito Santo, Pernambuco, Bahia, Roraima, Minas Gerais, Ceará, Sergipe, Maranhao, and Puerto Rico. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 2.1 m.
