Range Description

Costus bracteatus is found from southern Nicaragua, to Costa Rica and northwestern Panama, usually in hilly terrain on the Caribbean side of the central mountain ranges. Its altitude ranges from near sea level up to 800 metres. The extent of occurrence (EOO) was calculated at 12,637 km2 using GeoCAT to form a convex polygon around the collection sites. The area of occupancy (AOO) was calculated at 8,219 km2 using the auto-value in GeoCAT to create 23 km wide cells around the collection sites.
