Lepanthes eltoroensis (Orchidaceae) is a rare Puerto Rican endemic orchid. This species is epiphytic and it occurs on the lower trunks of trees in high elevation elfin forests. This orchid is only distributed near mountain summits in El Yunque (the Caribbean National Forest). Although this species occurs on protected land and it is protected under the United States Federal Endangered Species Act, its populations are still threatened by natuaral disturbances such as hurricanes and landslides.
