Range Description

This species is distributed throughout the Indo-West Pacific region including Madagascar, the Philippines, Australia (New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania), the Tanimbar Islands in the Maluku Province of Indonesia, the Chesterfield Islands in New Caledonia, and Japan (Holthuis 1991, Poore 2004, Zarenkov 2006, DEWHA 2009). This species is likely to occur in other areas of Indonesia and Melanesia.
The type locality for this species is the Philippines (13º53.7'N 119º56.3'E) at a depth of 970 m (Holthuis 1991).
