Range Description

The species occupies a large range over most of China, Japan and the Korean Peninsula. In Japan, the type locality, the distribution includes all four principal islands comprising Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu and also includes many offshore islands including the Ryukyus (Sugimura et al. 2001). In China, Hua (2000) reports it from the following provinces:Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Henan, Hubei,Hunan, Jiangxi, Shanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and Zhejiang, and from Taiwan, Province of China. Wilson and Xu (unpubl.) have also collected specimens from Guizhou and it is also known from Shaanxi. Lieftinck et al. (1984) described it as a rare species in Taiwan and it has only been recorded once from Szeki (ca 1,000 m) in the northeast of the island.
