Saltoblattella montistabularis is a recently discovered South African cockroach (Bohn et al. 2010). This species is characterized by a unique form of locomotion. Rather than scuttling with short quick steps as is typical of cockroaches, these cockroaches jump and hop very much like grasshoppers (Picker et al. 2011).
