Range Description

Clarias buthupogon is known from throughout the Congo River system. In the Lower Guinea, it is known from the Ogowe basin, the Sanaga, Wouri and Cross Rivers. Elsewhere, it is known from the coastal rivers of Nigeria and the Benin Republic. It has possibly been found in the Nile in Sudan and in the Chad basin in the Central African Republic. These records need to be confirmed though.
