Range Description

The range includes the Meramec River and southern tributaries of the Missouri River in Missouri and Kansas and the Arkansas River system in Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma (Morris and Page 1981). Morris and Page (1981) indicated that fulvitaenia, which they regarded as a subspecies of Percina caprodes, intergrades with Percina caprodes caprodes in the southern Ozarks (St. Francis, Black, and White rivers) and with Percina caprodes semifasciata in the Illinois River and Mississippi River and its tributaries from the Missouri River north to approximately 41 degrees north latitude. Populations in some areas in Illinois mostly closely resemble fulvitaenia (Morris and Page 1981), so the range of P. fulvitaenia as a species probably should also include Illinois.
