Neotibicen davisi (formerly Tibicen davisi; see Hill et al. 2015) is known from Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and west Virginia  (U.S.A.) (Sanborn & Phillips 2013).

Two subpecies are currentlly recognized: Neotibicen davisi davisi is reported from all the states listed above for the species except for Arkansas; N. davisi harnedi is reported only for Arkansas and Mississipp. The spelling "hardeni" in Sanborn & Heath (2012) and Sanborn & Phillips (2013) is an error (A.F. Sanborn, pers. comm. May 2016).
