Description of Polychromophilus

Plasmodiid apicomplexa, gamonts in erythrocytes; pigment (hemozoin) formed; merogony in mesodermal cells of various organs, finally occurring in Kupffer cells of the liver µmacromeronts in liver and lungs; micromeronts in reticuloendothelial cells; meronts tiny; in insectivorous bats; vectors nycteribiid flies; oocysts on midgut of vector; 5 named species, type species: Polychromophilus melanipherus.
