Description of Diploeca placita

Cell, oval, with long neck extending well above the lorica mouth; partly or wholly filling lorica. Lorica proper is elongate ovate, brown in colour, and attached. Nucleus normal. One contractile vacuole. The length of thickened (double) lorica is 8 microns. The length of neck of lorica, 2 microns; greatest width of lorica, 4 microns; cell extended, 8-9 microns; cell width, 3 microns.
