Hyperietta luzoni is very close to H. stebbingi and H. stephenseni described below. Therefore, to which of these species of the specimens of H. luzoni of earlier authors actually belong, is not known.

This genus has been associated with polycystine radiolarians of the suborder Collodaria, and literature has been published on Hyperia, though referrable to Hyperietta, as parasites of the radiolarians Myxosphaera coerula and Collozoum pelagicum. [Zeidler, 2004]
