Andersonia R.Br. currently includes 29 recognised species and approximately 15 un-named taxa. All species are woody shrubs, varying in height from 10cm (A. setifolia) to over 2 metres (A. axilliflora, A. echinocephala). Andersonia  occurs in south-west Western Australia, in heath, dense shrubland or open mixed eucalypt forests. A few species occur on granite outcrops.
