Range Description

Fauna Europea (Bank et al. 2006) list the species as present in the Near East, in Turkey, Caucasian Russian republics, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Jordan, Sinai Peninsula (Egypt), Arabian peninsula (Saudi Arabia), Iran, and Iraq. This species is not native to Europe, but is found in the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France (mainland), Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Italy (mainland), Ukraine, and Hungary. This species is originally from East Asia, introduced in 1939 to southern North America, and in 1980 from North America to Europe (Portugal and south of France, 1994 Netherlands, 1999 Austria, 2000 Romania) (Welter-Schultes 2011). The species is known from all of Europe, as an invasive species, and Eastern Transcaucasia, Central Asia and most of Africa makes up its native range (D. van Damme pers. comm. 2012).
