Range Description

This species occurs in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden (Rckel et al. 1995), along a coastline of approx 2,400 km. The EOO and exceeds the thresholds for criterion B1, however the AOO is within the threshold for criterion B2 and taking a precautionary approach the number of locations is ten or maybe fewer (based on pollution events). The species is strictly endemic to the area. Specimens are generally taken from dredging and landed in the harbour of Djibouti.

The range on the distribution map is likely to be larger than the actual range of this species, with an estimated AOO of less than 2,000 km2.
