Sterculia apetala (Panama Tree) is a species of tree in the family mallows. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to GoiáS, Amazônia, Pará, Cerrado, and Acre (Brazil). They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Oxytrigona mellicolor, Trigona fuscipennis, and Scaptotrigona pectoralis. Individuals can grow to 40 m.
