Range Description

This species is widespread and ubiquistic Afrotropical species. It is known from Egypt to South Africa and westwards to Mali (Mandahl-Barth 1988).

Eastern Africa: It is found in Lake Victoria. It is the most widespread and common species among the Pisidium species in East Africa.

Northern Africa: It is present in Egypt probably along the whole of the Lower Nile. It is not found in the Maghreb. Kuiper (1964) and Ibrahim et al. (1999) found it in Nile Delta only but it is rare there.

Northeastern Africa: It is recorded from all countries except Eritrea and Djibouti.

Southern Africa: This species is known only from Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal provinces (Kuiper 1964, 1966).

Western Africa: It is found throughout west Africa to Mali.
