A glabrous or glabrescent annual herb with a few spreading hairs towards the bases of the erect stems, which are branched mainly from the base. Basal leaves form a rosette, simple or lyrately-pinnate and fleshy, petiolate and entire or toothed; stem leaves are small. Inflorescence is an embracteate raceme, elongating in fruit, bearing flowers of erect sepals and violet-pink long-clawed petals. Fruit is a short-beaked siliqua with torulose valves and a distinct midrib. Seeds are orange-brown, arranged in two rows.
