Range Description

D. brachycarpa is endemic to Madagascar, found in the southern and western parts of the country. Although found from Ankara Plateau, Tsingy de Bemaraha and the upper Mandrare River basin, areas widely separated geographically, it is scattered and rare where found (Du Puy et al. 1995). Based on the distribution of herbarium specimens, the extent of occurrence (EOO) is 190,398 km and the area of occupancy (AOO) is 51,428 km. Occurs from sea level up to 300 m and occasionally as high as 1,200 m.
