Description of Chaetoceros debilis

Cells are united into long spirally twisted chains. The setae arise just within the valve margin and all point in the same direction as in Chaetoceros curvisetus. The valve mantle is shallow and not markedly separated from the girdle. The valves are flat or slightly convex. The single. plate like chromatophore is located at the girdle. Apical axis: 8-40 microns
