Brief Summary

Read full entry
With its long thin leaves and flat ends, Hypoglossum looks a lot like a tongue. The leaves have side branches and a vein running down the middle of every leaf. This red seaweed grows in shallow coastal waters and in pools, fastened to stones and other seaweeds. You find it in the Atlantic Ocean, southern North Sea, English Channel and Oosterschelde. If it washes ashore, it is often attached to brown seaweed.
