Description of Spongomonas intestinalis

Gelatinous colony or common investing matrix forming irregular finger-like or convoluted masess, cells ovate or subglobose; flagella similar in length and character, twice the cell length, protruding for almost their entire length beyond the periphery of the colony; contractile vacuole single, lateral; nucleus spherical, subcentral. Length of cells 8.5 microns, diameter of thread-like matrix 102-203 microns.
