Range DescriptionIschnura evansi ranges from Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan) (Krylova 1972; Borisov 1984, 2006) through the Middle East and the whole Arabian Peninsula (Schneider 1981, Dumont 1991, Schneider and Krupp 1993, Schneider and Dumont 1997) to the Libyan desert in Egypt (Siwa oasis area) in the west (Kimmins 1950, Dijkstra and Boudot, 2009). It has also been recorded by Legrand (Dijkstra pers. comm.) in a lake on the border with Ethiopia and Djibouti. The species is also recorded from eastern Sudan (two records, Dumont and Martens 1984). The species' habitats (brackish pools and marshes, swampy areas, slow-flowing and intermittent wadis) are common in the eremic area going from Central Asia to Arabia and the Sahara, so that the species is perhaps more widespread than currently known.
