Habitat: P. missouriensis occurs in mesic deciduous forest, in soil and leaf litter.

Natural History: P. missouriensis was described from specimens collected in a meticulous study of ants in a St. Charles Co., MO forest by Mary Talbot. All native Pyramica are cryptic inhabitants of plant litter and organic-rich soil, and hunt Collembola and perhaps other small hexapods, using stealth and snap jaws to capture prey. How the various species manage to partition the food resources, other than some apparent habitat differences, is unknown. Particular effort must be made to understand the habitat and dietary preferences of these secretive ants.
