Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 12 - 12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 13; Anal spines: 2 - 2; Anal soft rays: 11 - 12; Vertebrae: 26 - 26. Body very dark gray-brown, depth 1.95-2.1 in SL. Caudal fin abruptly white. Narrow posterior part of dorsal and anal fins hyaline. Base of pectoral fins with a large black spot. Upper and lower spiniform procurrent caudal rays 2; upper and lower 2 branched caudal rays filamentous and often very long. Tube lateral line scales 16-18, rarely 16. Free margin of subopercle nearly reaching a vertical at rear margin of pupil.
