Usually found in large, quiet and deep, often turbid waters (Ref. 37788). Reported to occur over gravel substrate in clear, swift, small streams up to rapidly flowing stretches of large rivers. Feed on insect larvae, especially trichopterans. Rarely seen in markets (Ref. 12693).
