Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 7 - 8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 19 - 21; Anal spines: 3 - 3; Anal soft rays: 16 - 19. Color dusky green dorsally, silvery below; dorsal lobe dusky to dark and evenly pigmented. Upper jaw extending well beyond eye. Midbody scales oval-shaped. Soft dorsal and anal fins with semi-detached finlets. Scales small and lanceolate, partly embedded.
