Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 5 - 5; Dorsal soft rays (total): 21 - 21; Anal spines: 1 - 1; Anal soft rays: 17 - 17. Best recognized by the plain broad barring along the lower sides n the body and grey lower lip that maybe thinly barred with white in females (Ref. 48636). A series of 9 vertically elongate dark brown bars on ventral half of body with a pair of dark blotches (or groups of dark brown spots ) in upper part of each pale interspace. A narrow dusky Y-shaped bar linking each ventral dark bar to a series of dark spots on back. Canine teeth at front of lower jaw 10 (Ref 42740).
