Found near the bottom in sluggish parts of rapidly flowing streams. Usually occurs as scattered individuals over sand substrates in fairly shallow water. Probably spawns in flooded forests in very shallow water. Feeds mainly on benthic invertebrates. Not fished commercially. (Ref. 12693).
