Concealed mostly among rocks during daytime. Nocturnal habits prevail (Ref. 45232). Oviparous (Ref. 205). Care of the eggs and young is probably done by mouthbrooding solitary males (Ref. 45232). Feed on chironomid larvae, beetle larvae and small crustaceans with occasional ingestion of vegetable material (Ref. 6868). Of no food value (Ref. 4967). Mucus is poisonous to other fishes (Ref. 4537).
