CORRECTION: better statement of range is that this taxon is endemic to the high elevations of the Drakensberg, including Lesotho and extreme eastern South Africa.
Might add that this taxon occurs in some of the more western areas of South Africa such as the Nama Karoo ecoregion

This mouse occurs only in the Highveld grassland ecoregion, and thus the term "wide area" in the text object is somewhat misleading. will make it visible with this footnote of explanation.
This limited range taxon also occurs at the very high elevations of the Drakensberg in Lesotho.
