Description:
Two birds in the trees at Kickapoo Cavern State Park north of Brackettville in Texas, as dusk encroaches. The Black-Throated Sparrow (Amphispiza bilineata) is a common bird throughout the desert Southwest reaching into Texas, and these two were at the far eastern edge of their normal range. The immature, juvenile bird lacks the distinctive black patch on the throat.
