Description:

Description: The Silvereye or Tauhou is a tiny Tasmanian species (only about 12cm long) found in Australia, New Zealand and some south-western Pacific countries. They migrate annually across Bass Strait from Tasmania to the Australian mainland and it is thought that the NZ population originated from a flock that was blown off-course during the 1830s. Date: 23 May 2012, 11:52. Source: Silvereye, White-eye or Waxeye. Author: Sid Mosdell from New Zealand.
