She is living on the remains of the crumbling seawall of the old Hotel Hygeia on Munyon Island near North Palm Beach. This species has a wide range of pattern variations. The species N. peloronta can have coloration similar to this as well. It's easy to check by picking up the snail and looking at the aperture as versicolor has four "teeth" while peloronta has a "bleeding tooth". I won't terrify and pry creatures from their resting places so we will have to go with my best guess (and the deep grooves of the shell) for the ID. Date: 25 January 2013, 08:47.
