Description:

Description: Nerita versicolor Gmelin, 1791 - four-toothed nerite snails exposed in a rocky shore intertidal zone. These nerite snails are on an epikarstified aragonitic limestone surface in the intertidal zone. They are grazing on algal/bacterial films by scraping the rocks with their radulae. The limestone rocks are cross-bedded, aragonitic, calcarenitic eolianites, formed in a terrestrial, near-shore, wind-dominated, sand dune environment.
