Description:

Description: English: Warning notices and gate - Hensol Forest. Areas of the forest have been closed off in order to bring into effect control measures for the disease caused by the Phytophthora ramorum pathogen. P. ramorum was found infecting and killing large numbers of Japanese larch trees in South West England in 2009 and in 2010 it was found on Japanese larches in Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Hensol Forest, near Cowbridge, is one of several sites in South Wales where P. ramorum was found in Japanese larch trees in 2010. Sections of the woodland have been closed to the public from November 2010 to March 2011 while Forestry Commission Wales fells infected trees as part of the ongoing work to minimise the impact of this fatal tree disease.
