Description: Lernaeenicus sprattae (Sowerby, 1806) English: The eye maggot of sprat, a parasitic copepod on its host sprat (Sprattus sprattus) from the Nieuwpoort dredge disposal site on the Belgian continental shelf (Southern North Sea). The teal paired threadlike appendages on each of the two parasites are the eggsacks. The copepod is attached to the eye of the sprat. Français : En anglais eye maggot of sprat (littéralement, asticot oculaire du sprat) est un copépode parasite s'attachant à l'œil de son hôte, le sprat. Les deux appendices filaires visibles sur chacun des deux parasites sont des sacs d'œufs. Ce spécimen a été prélevé sur le dépôt de dragage de Nieuport, sur la côte belge de la mer du Nord.
